Local Character is provided free, as is, without warranty. By using it you agree to the points below.
Characters are fictional
Characters are AI, not real people, and what they say is generated by a small language model that can be wrong. Do not rely on a character for medical, legal, financial or safety advice.
Adults only, no real people
Characters must be adults. Auto-fill will not draft characters of real people, the picture maker refuses prompts about minors or real people, and an on-device filter blocks sexual content involving minors, non-consent or family members. You are responsible for what you create and for having the right to any image you upload as a portrait.
Your content
Characters and chats you create are stored on your device and are yours. We claim no rights over them and, because they are never sent to us, we cannot see, recover or delete them for you.
Licences
The Local Character application is proprietary. It runs third-party models under their own licences:
- Gemma 4 E2B - Gemma Terms of Use, including Google's prohibited-use policy.
- DreamShaper 8 - CreativeML OpenRAIL-M.
- Kokoro-82M - Apache-2.0.
- Whisper - MIT.
- LiteRT-LM and ONNX Runtime Web - Apache-2.0 and MIT respectively.
